Along the Way
Each of us is on a pilgrimage through life. A pilgrimage that, I believe, if taken with an open heart and mind leads to union with the Almighty. Some of us have been directed along one path, others along another. As I have traveled 'along my way' the spirit has blessed me so that -













































I have -

Been baptized in water
Taken the First Communion
Marched in the May procession
Sought the vision on the door at St. Mary’s
Confessed and found forgiveness
Confirmed the faith
Contemplated the priesthood

Spent the night on vision quest
Awoke to the cry of the Hawk
Danced at the council fire
Communed with the natural world
Ran the May Run with the DVOC
Enjoyed the silent service at Pendle Hill.
Was asked by very old lady - 'young man are thee Quaker'

Replied - No just a pilgrim on my way
Shared slides of the Holy Land with Friends at Haddonfield Meeting
Sat by the Franklin Stove at Mickelton Meeting and wrote poetry
Enjoyed friends at Moorestown Meeting

Prayed at the Coptic Church in Asamara Eritrea
Watched millions of Locusts swarm at Asamara
Shouted back at the wild Baboons

Visited the Mosque where the head of John the Baptist was enshrined
Took the road to Damascus
Hear the call to prayer from the minaret
Visited the shrines of Jerusalem, Jordan, Jericho, and Bethlehem
Prayed in the Church of the Nativity
Prayed in the Garden at Gethsemane
Washed my hands in the Jordan River
Visited and prayed at the Dome of the Rock
Prayed on Calvary
Walked the shores of the Dead Sea

Walked in the Temple at Karnack
Climbed the pyramid at Gaza
Watched the sun set over the Sphinks.
Walked in the Valley of the Kings
Visited the temple of Queen Hatshepsut
Visited the tomb of King Tut.
Walked among the cedars of Lebanon
Wandered among the ancient Roman Temple of Bacchus

Married my seventh grade sweetheart
Took the children to visit the Shaker 'Sisters' at Canterbury Community
Explored the natural world with young people at 'Crows Woods'
Prayed with a friend at The Basilica of St. Anne de Beaupré
Been the Lector at Mass
Cut wood for the New Fire
Read from Scripture at the Presbyterian Church
Prayed at the Mission
Meditated on the mountain
Sojourned in a Tibetan Monastery
Walked among the sacred rock spires
Rang the temple bell at the Zen monastery
Whispered the mantra

Enjoyed the beauty and spirt of nature with good friends:
Counted Saw Whet owls along the Delaware River
Watched hawks at Cape May
Canoed the Mullica River through the Pine Barrens
Met Rattlesnake Ace in Chatsworth
Welcomed the first Cattle Egret in the US
Walked and talked with the old Eggers at the DVOC

Watched the caterpillar turn to a butterfly
Heard the Owl call from the lower woods
Listened to the Peepers herald spring
Watch the skunk cabbage welcome bees
Saw the hawk ride the thermals
Welcomed the bluebird to the garden
Listened to the Coyotes sing
Enjoyed the Robins feeding young
Saw the Tracks of the Bear and his/her claw marks on rock
Was amazed as the Goldfinch changed color
Stood on the shore as the storm blew in

Taught children the joys found in nature at 'Heritage Jr.'
Helped to create 'Crows Woods'
Watched as students rolled in the grass in the 'Conn College Arboretum'
Met the 'famous' at "Mid Fairfield County Youth Museum'
Brought nature study to many via 'Natural Science for Youth Foundation'
Helped spread the fun of backyard bird feeding.

Been born again
Baptized in the Holy Spirit
Prophesied
Served as Spiritual guide
Had visions
Bathed in Taboric light
Drifted on the silver cord
Founded a prayer meeting
Fought spiritual demons and won
Brought a word of wisdom
Sent the seeker on the Vision Quest
Served as a conduit for Gods healing power
Been slain in the Spirit
Fellowshipped with many
Sought word of the White Buffalo
Felt the Divine presence
Heard the still small voice of God
Conducted the funeral service
Sent the bread and wine
Counseled the confused
Spoke in Tongues and interpreted Tongues
Conducted the prayer service at a Senior Center
Stood among the trees, heard the cicada sing, and buried a friend

Ate of the Mandala

Received the monks blessing at KurJe
Passed under the sacred chain forged by Thangtong Gyalpo
Processed around the Mani Wall
Visited at Mebartsho to float butter lamps
Turned the prayer wheel at Jambe Lhakang
Climbed the path to Taktsang Lhakhang
Stood among the Prayer Flags in Paro
Prostrated before the Buddha at Chatham Zue

Visited Swayambhunath and viewed the compassionate eyes of Buddha
Saw the Living Goddess, the Kumari
Joined in prayer at the Tibetan Monastery before the statue of Maitreya Buddha
Observed a 'cremation' at Pashupatinath
Walked the streets of Pakhara
Trekked to Birethanti to rest by the Modi River
Rafted on the Seti River
Camped on the banks of the Seti and celebrated my 68th.
Rode the Elephant (Madhr Mala Kali Justin's) at Tiger Tops
Watched one-horned rhinos and their young graze
Safaried in Royal Chitwan National Park

Gazed on the Green Tara and White Tara in Bhutan
Rolled the dice at Drukqyel Temple
Honored the Tsata at Drukqyel Dzong
Prostrated before the Buddha at Kyichu Lhakhang
Saw the sacred masks at Dzongdrakha and visited its four temples and stupa.
Viewed the footprint of Guru Padmasambhava
Lit the butter lamp, was blessed, and tried the dice at temple of Guru Padmasambhava
Prayed at the Drubthob Gompa nunnery
Hiked to Chimi Lhakhang to see the statue of the "Divine Madman' - received a 'power' blessing and rolled the dice

Poured water at Shwedagon Pagoda, Maynamar (Burma)
Explored the Plain of Temples at Pagan
Plied the mighty Irrawaddy on the Pandaw
Heard the sounds of riverside temples and towns
Stopped at the village of Pakokku and traveled by man-powered trishaw
Learned the ten points procedure at Mahagandhayon Monastery
Chanted evening prayer with the Nuns
Celebrated my 69th at the Pansea Hotel in Rangoon, with gift and flowers
Placed gold left on the Mahamuni Buddha
Watched the Sun go down and heard the tingly temple bells on Mandalay Hill
Took the long tail boat to the Jumping Cat monastery
Rested at the inn on Inle Lake
Saw the 8000 Buddha images in the Pindaya caves.
Watched paper being made from the bark of the mulberry tree .

Lit candles at a church, cathedral, mission, temple, monastery and tomb
Wore the metal, the cross, the scapular, the string
Raised the Prayer Flag with my grandchildren

Shared my adventures with the ladies of the Farmington Friends Meeting
Followed the 'sound of the bell' with 'Friends" at Joan's home.
Made new friends of 'Old Friends'
"Remembered When" with the USFW
Planted the Kitchen garden, harvested our own.
Published book number ten

Walked amoung the ancient trees at Big Basin.
Laughed at the Otter in Monterey Bay
Enjoyed the crashing waves at Pigeon Point
Marveled at the mountains in Yosemite
Felt the mist from Bridalveil Falls

Tried to spread the message –
Live in harmony, unity and balance with God, Man and Nature

And so much more -
as I wander, wonder, and wait.
